    listen brudda. …
listen brudda. Nobody has to be accepted to be Samoan. That’s other people’s ignorance if they don’t accept you as Samoan. It’s something that is within. As long as YOU know who you are, that’s all that counts…

    the taupou is the …
the taupou is the Le Afioga a Tuitele Fofo Tony Tuitele’s niece, she is Lepeti’s daughter. She is a taupou for Tuitele. She lives in SFO, but came to Am. Samoa just to taualuga the Leone Village faafiafiaga…So, never mind the muimui, and the talk, tele le lotoleaga o tagata o lenei lalolagi…ga’o le mapugipugi lava o kou gutu ma o e feosofi ile sami.

As you can see she …
As you can see she is not full Samoan so obviously she doesn’t dance a Taualuga like a Samoan does and She is from S.F maybe this is her first time getting in touch with her roots….Regardless of what anybody says this girl is beautiful from her Head Dress “Tuiga” down to her Fine Mat “Ie Toga”…all she needs is some siva lessons and she’ll be as graceful as them other girls…..but don’t put her down…show some respect and love for her…..Keep it up girl!!!! keep reppin that Faa Samoa!!!!!

    I think the …
I think the Taualuga was graceful and did a great job. Everyone has their own style and she had all the basics down. What is the right way?? Please!!!Did you want her to roll on the ground and get dirty..lol Or step on someones back to be more authentic?lol…Great job to Leone and the Taupo!!!!

    Its ashame noone …
Its ashame noone taught her how to dance properly but its very nice that the village gave her this opportunity

I did not mean it …
I did not mean it literally but ok, malosi oe. I apologize if you what you saw in the mirror was not a pleasing sight. I think the relation to Tofoipupu is pretty much irrelevent, for most of us from Leone she represents the village and that’s what makes her significant to us. One more thing, without a village there is no Tuitele, Leone was there before Tuitele and it will be there long after. Manuia le aso.

    The original …
The original TOFOIPUPU did not live about a hundred years ago!!!! She is still living && breathing in NEW ZEALAND!!!

  13. letesu on July 12th, 2009 8:20 am

    She did not have …
She did not have too, but she is the one the family chose to represent Leone, she did an okay job. Leone has had better taupous. The original Tofoiipupu lived a few hundred years ago, everyone in Leone is related to her.

    Stop talkin about …
Stop talkin about her not being graceful. It’s not her fault! It’s due to her grandfather being TUITELE (a high chief title holder) she has to because that’s the SAMOAN custom! Each high chief has a TAUPOU or PRINCESS, & when things like, such as FLAG DAYS & other important things, she will end any entetainment that the village puts on! I should know…..my aunt was the original TOFOIPUPU!!!

    “therefore DONT” …
“therefore DONT” consider you as one of them

  16. marcellin20a on July 12th, 2009 8:20 am

    because they are …
because they are only kids. When they get older they will understand that Samoans can come in different shapes and sizes. You dont look Samoan by the way you describe yourself which which is why they don’t see as a Samoan therefore consider you as one of them.

    Oh yes one more …
Oh yes one more question. I hardly was accepted by the Samoans at my schools. I mean I am 4′11 (Filipino height), light skin with straight and I mean straight black hair (Okinawan, Filipino in me). I do not speak Samoan but I can pick it up real quick when I listen. Is it me or what? Why didn’t they ever accept me? I am proud to be Samoan bur some of them are not real nice towards me..

I want to go to …
I want to go to Samoa so bad!! I have always wondered what is the significance of the Taupou head dress?

God Bless Samoa. This really made me smile. I lived in Hawaii many years ago, had some Samoan friends. I hope to visit there someday.

    not to be …
not to be disrespectful…but this wasnt as graceful as wat ive seen my Samoan sisters here perform…

  25. Taahineniua801 on July 12th, 2009 8:20 am

    i seen Princess …
i seen Princess Pilolevu of Tonga on this clip… whats going on??? jst curious…also, ive seen “not-so-graceful” taualugas growing up…and i thought thats how it was supposed to be performed, and then i FINALLY seen a graceful one, and had developed more respect for the Samoan Taualuga..watching this took me “back”…I Love watching the graceful moves of the talented young women who can perform if as such..both the Samoan Taualuga and the Tongan Tauolunga…Ofa Lahi Atu!
