    freedom of …
freedom of expression is one of the great pillars of this country. making a law against doing something, even as ungrateful as burning the flag, does far more damage to who we are as a nation than any number of flag burners ever could.

Rocket Surgeon, You really need to learn a little more about our recent history if you honestly don’t think Muslims have hated people from the West since 1976.

lennyjd, I am glad we live in a country where you can say something stupid like, “it’s just a piece of cloth” and you only face ridicule from your fellow citizens, not action from the state. I think it is sad that you don’t appreciate the flag or the freedom it represents.

    Freedom of speech …
Freedom of speech is great; BUT:

    1. The jergoffs who were trying to burn the flag DIDN’T OWN THE STADIUM. Let ‘em burn the flag on their own property.

    2. Free speech doesn’t always extend to BEHAVIOR. They could always write editorials and lobby congress for the right to burn the flag. But free speech doesn’t include the right to DO anything you want. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if it did.
