Bill Maher not only berates those who would wear the Flag lapel pin, but continues on to deride Sean Hannity for what he calls “no-pin-gate,” and calls the flag pin nothing more than a brooch. Here’s a partial transcript:

IN THIS VIDEO, watch as one jumper exits from the Cessna 182 jump aircraft and deploys the american flag while the national anthem is played. The jumper is being circled by the four PT-17 Stearmans of the Red Baron Squadron, and as he makes his decent upon Rickenbacker International Airport, a flight of three P-51 Mustangs makes a pass down the show line (behind the flag) to help open up the Friday show. The jumper featured in the video is Paul McCowan, the founder of the E Team Skydivers, based in Ohio. His site is at http://www.eteamskydivers.com . Last week, there was a heavy rainstorm that caused the seal around my living-room window to spring a leak, and water came in, getting the flag dirty and soaking wet.

On one hand, I believe the formal flag codes require me to destroy the flag once it gets dirty and/or wet, but … this is my grandfather's flag, which is a big deal in my family. If I can, I'd like to clean it rather than replace it.

Any suggestions?

During an Obama speech, I saw a flag next to the american flag? Can anyone tell me what it was.. white with triangle and circle and blue with stars.

The flag with the triangle and circle is the Ohio state flag.

Each of the states has their own flag.

Each different tribe of Native Americans has their own flag.

Mainly their flags fly on Native American businesses and lands.

Sadly the United States of America does not honor the indigenous people of this country as you say you do in Australia. This is yet another race and social class struggle still being fought.

Out of respect, the flag is to be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset. If a flag is flown after sunset, it is to be illuminated.

1st choose your flag manufacturor. there are plenty of different flag makers in the USA but the top 3 are ANNIN AND CO, VALLEY FORGE FLAG COMPANY and CF FLAG COMPANY. These 3 flag companies are the ONLY flag companies chosen to make flags for the US government and armed services. the flags that fly over the Capitol are Annin or Valley Forge.

dont buy the cheapest flag you can buy. if you ARE strapped for cash, go to your nearest Wal-mart as these stores have a contract with Annin and co and quite regularly sell their flags i picked up a 6×4 ft nylon flag from wal-mart last year for $24.99- or have a look on ebay.

now for the type of flag.
both Annin and Valley forge have a range of heavy duty flags. these are good for high winds. valley forge have DuraTex and Annin have ToughTex. the valley forge one is made from 2 spun polyester and the annin one i think is a mix of polyester and nylon and s a 'double flag' basiclaly 2 layers of material throughout the flag. be warned though- these will just lay against the pole if its not windy enough

in a regular or low wind nylon is the best lasting flag but make sure you have at least 4 rows of stitching at the fly end which all these 3 companies do provide

for the best visual effect however a .cotton flagwill win every time in regular wind. it will flow gently and be wonderful to look at. however these flags come with a higher maintainance and they do not like the rain!! you can get colour fast cotton flags but still if it rains they fill with water and become very heavy and then have to be COMPLETELY dried out before folding otherwise it can become mouldy… yuck!

1) The flag stands for a nation that allows free speech.
2) The flag is a symbol for all the citizens of the United States since, the people are the power behind the government.
3) The flag stands for our soldiers in the field.

The political reasons for not burning the flag:

1) Your argument will not be heard after you burn a flag because angering the hearts and minds of your audience never works,
2) Flag burners are often ignored as ignorant or extremists.

Personally, I think that flag burning is silly and gets nothing but, free air time on the news as a loon.
